HUŞ KAPLAMARotary-cut birch veneer from Russia

Our production: Udmurtia and our own rail siding

Our mill is in the Udmurt Republic, Russia — and it has its own rail siding inside the site. The railcar is loaded within the plant: the mill-to-station truck leg disappears, there is no container demurrage, and we set the shipping schedule at our own pace. One railcar holds 102 m³ of veneer.

The whole chain in one place

Log procurement, peeling, drying, grading, packing and loading onto the railcar — all on one site. Every intermediate link adds cost and blurs responsibility for quality. Here there are none, which means that if something goes wrong in a batch you do not have to go looking for who to talk to.

That is not common in this market: most of the companies selling this product are traders. Traders have their uses, but they do not have a production manager who can discuss press behaviour, or a moisture meter, or photographs of the line.

Raw material: why Udmurtia

Udmurtia is known for dense, hard birch. This is not a marketing line but a production parameter: higher density means the veneer behaves more predictably in the press and deviation between batches falls.

Our veneer runs at 620–680 kg/m³ in density and 120–144 N/mm² in bending strength.

One railcar holds 102 m³. In practice that means if your monthly requirement is around 100 m³, a single shipment covers it and you never deal with container consolidation.

Packaging

Each bundle sits on 80–100 mm bearers, strapped at four to six points with edge protectors under the straps. Moisture protection is a shrink wrap plus a waterproof top sheet, with ventilation openings left under the wrap. Six to ten desiccant bags go into a 40’HC.

Labels are in English and Turkish: bundle number, species, grade, format, thickness, moisture, sheet count, m², m³, net and gross weight, date and contract number.

Company details

We work formally, with a full documentary package: invoice, contract, packing list, certificate of origin and phytosanitary certificate. Company details and contacts are on the contact page.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Where exactly is the mill?

Udmurt Republic, Russia — south-west of Izhevsk, close to the ring road, with easy truck access and our own rail siding on site.

Why Udmurtia birch?

The region is known for dense, hard birch. Density means consistency in serial production: the veneer behaves as expected in the press and there are no surprises from batch to batch.

What difference does the rail siding make?

Three things: it removes the mill-to-station truck cost, it removes demurrage because loading happens at our own pace, and on larger lots it opens the river-sea route, which takes freight down to around 85 USD per m³.

What is your monthly capacity?

We plan shipments by railcar. Regular supply starts at one railcar a month and scales from there. Tell us your annual requirement and we will reserve a slot in the production schedule.

Can we visit the mill?

Yes. We send photographs and video, and for serious volumes we arrange site visits — travel is planned via Izhevsk.

Tell us the format, thickness and monthly volume

We will work out the cubic metres per container, the freight to your port and the lead time. We answer during Turkish business hours, in Turkish, English and Russian.
